Pumpkin Homemade Dog Treats Your Pups Will Absolutely Love

Learn how to make healthy and delicious pumpkin homemade dog treats your pups will be obsessed with.

I have two adorable Rhodesian Ridgebacks who love to eat more than anything in the world. They love getting treats, and we are always very mindful of the ingredients that we feed them. These homemade dog treats are organic and grain-free, so they’re the perfect healthy snack for your babies, and trust me when I say – they will be OBSESSED with them!

I make these treats regularly, so that we always have them on hand. We call their store-bought treats “treats”, and we call these homemade treats “cookies”. When I say “do you want a cookie?”, their eyes get as big as saucers and they come running! Read below to see how to make these delicious treats for your pups.

Pumpkin Homemade Dog Treats Recipe

Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixer (can hand mix with a whisk, but a mixer is faster and easier)
  • Measuring cups
  • Baking sheet

Organic Pumpkin Homemade Dog Treats Ingredients

pumpkin homemade dog treats ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cup organic coconut flour
  • 1 cup organic pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup organic peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup virgin coconut oil (melt and cool)
  • 3 eggs

How to Make Pumpkin Homemade Dog Treats

Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Mix ingredients. I use a KitchenAid mixer because it’s easier, but you can also mix with a whisk.

Step 3: Lay down wax or parchment paper and sprinkle coconut flour across it.

Step 4: Form dough into a large ball and flip back and forth on the flour. I do this so it’s not too sticky. Carefully roll out the dough to 1/4 – 1/2-inch thickness.

Step 5:  Use your favorite cookie cutter to cut out the dough. Click below to shop my exact cookie cutters. I mainly use the paw print cookie cutter because it’s the easiest. I could never get the hydrant or the dog ones to come out without falling apart!

Step 6: Spray cooking spray on your cookie sheet. I actually use the same coconut oil in the recipe. I just dip a paper towel in there and smear it across the sheet. Coconut oil cooking spray works well too!

Step 7: Lay your cookies on your cookie sheet. They don’t expand much, so feel free to cram them on there. I always bake as many as will fit on there at once.

Step 8: Bake for 15-18 minutes. I live at altitude so it’s closer to 18 minutes for me. I like to set a timer halfway and rotate them 180 degrees just so they cook evenly.

Step 9: Cool for a few minutes then serve.

WATCH OUT FOR DROOL SLICKS!

But seriously, your pups are going to be obsessed with these. Our dogs even recognize the smell of the ingredients when I’m making them, and we have to set up barricades to keep them out of the kitchen!

After they’ve cooled, I put them into several snack food bags. I keep one snack bag in the fridge and throw the rest in the freezer just to keep them fresh. Also, I don’t want to give the pups too many, so keeping them in the fridge in small numbers helps me limit them. I usually give them 1-2 a day and they absolutely love them!

I hope your pups enjoy these treats as much as mine do! For more gluten-free recipes, click HERE.
