As the days inch closer to our primary bathroom remodel, I am knee deep in accessories and finishes, including find the perfect coastal bathroom mirrors to go above our vanity.
Something I truly love about coastal style is that it’s so versatile. There are so many different directions we could go with our mirrors, so I thought it was the perfect time to curate some of my favorite coastal bathroom mirrors for anyone looking for decorating inspiration!
Check out my top picks for coastal vanity mirror ideas to elevate your bathroom with quintennial seaside style.
Nautical Bathroom Mirrors
I swear I must have lived in Nantucket in a past life, because I gravitate towards nautical style like my family has been coastal living for multiple generations (fact, I grew up in Texas nowhere near the ocean, but I love it nonetheless!).
Nautical bathroom mirrors bring in elements of sailing on the sea, like rope and jute. Don’t want actual rope material? No problem! Look for rope designs instead for a more modern and polished aesthetic.

Rattan Bathroom Mirrors
When some people think of rattan, they immediately go to beachy vibes. While rattan will absolutely complement a beach-themed bathroom, rattan is also very coastal. My house is not decorated “beachy”, but I already have a pair of rattan mirrors picked out for our custom navy blue bathroom vanity.
Rattan bathroom mirrors bring an organic feel to your space and while still upscale, they bring a slightly more relaxed and calming vibe to your bathroom. Go for rattan to add texture to your bathroom and bring out coastal design through the use of natural materials. Choose streamlined shapes for a more minimalist or modern look or scalloped shapes for a softer, more delicate aesthetic.

Modern Coastal Bathroom Mirrors
Modern coastal is such a popular style. For anyone who loves coastal style with a modern edge, look for mirrors with clean lines and gold or black finishes. That’s right, I said black! Black can absolutely be coastal when used in the right way.
Now these might not look coastal on their own, but paired with a coastal vanity and coastal lighting, they can absolutely complement a coastal bathroom design. Modern coastal style is understated and streamlined. A simple navy vanity, gold or black mirrors and vanity lighting can be all you need to achieve a modern coastal bathroom aesthetic.

Blue Coastal Bathroom Mirrors
Decorating with a blue coastal bathroom mirror is about as coastal as they come. Whether you do light blue or navy mirrors, they will perfectly complement a white or natural wood color vanity. Pair them with gold or nickel finishes (hardware and lighting) for a classic coastal look.

Placement Tips for Bathroom Mirrors

Bathroom Mirror Size
When choosing your coastal bathroom mirror, size matters. It’s similar to choosing a mirror for a dresser or console table. For a single sink vanity, choose a mirror that is a few inches shorter than your vanity. For a double sink vanity, choose a mirror that is wider than your sinks but leaves even space between the wall and the other side of the mirror.
For mirror height, there’s no hard and fast rule since bathrooms come in so many different sizes and ceiling heights. Aim to have your mirror tall enough so that’s it’s useful and leaves enough space for lighting above (unless you’re opting for sconces on the sides). The average bathroom mirror height is 30-36”.
Bathroom Mirror Placement
Hang your bathroom mirror 5-10” above the faucet. Ideally the center of the mirror should high 60-65” from the floor to keep it eye level.
Should Your Bathroom Mirror Match Your Hardware?

Your bathroom mirror does not have to match your cabinet hardware, but it should coordinate. I picked out rattan bathroom mirrors and polished nickel hardware for our soon-to-be remodeled bathroom which look beautiful together.
However, if I’m doing a metal finish on my mirror, I will generally match the cabinet hardware (see picture above). If you choose to have different metal finishes for your mirrors than your cabinet hardware, make sure there is some coordinating finishes with each in the space (think faucets and lighting).
I hope this gave you some good coastal bathroom mirror ideas. Our bathroom remodel will be finished in the next 6 weeks, and I will be sure to post pictures for more inspiration! Happy decorating!
